Political

Introduction:

Politics affects every aspect of our society, yet political conversations among Eritreans — both in Eritrea and in the diaspora — have too often become sources of division, mistrust, and pain.  Zara Selam Media approaches political topics with a different purpose: to promote peace, understanding, and respectful dialogue, and not to support any party, group, or ideology.

Our political reflections are grounded in truth, justice, and the timeless cultural values of our forefathers — humility, honesty, generosity, and respect for one another. We believe that political analysis should enlighten, not inflame; it should open doors for conversation, not close them.

This page is a space for thoughtful, non‑partisan engagement. We examine issues with clarity and courage, but always with the intention of healing divisions, encouraging unity, and building a culture where Eritreans can speak to each other again — even when they disagree.

Our commitment is simple: No partisanship. No political allegiance. Only truth, peace, and the well‑being of our people.

The division is deep and is based on one attacking the other, one defaming the other, one viewing the other as betrayer of the sacrifice of our heroes who gave their lives for independence.  However, this cycle must be broken and at some point.  And so, who if not Zara Selam Media, when if we do not try to the best of our abilities can this vicious cycle break and our community adhesion start repairing.

We firmly believe that all of us, no matter what political view we hold, should unite around the Eritrean nation as a sovereign country and in the respect and honor of our fallen heroes.

Politics and Public Dialogue:

Political conversations in the Eritrean diaspora are often emotional, complex, and deeply personal. At Zara Selam, we approach political topics with responsibility and balance, recognizing that our community deserves thoughtful analysis rather than division.

Our Approach

We focus on:

  • Encouraging civil and respectful dialogue
  • Presenting issues with clarity and fairness
  • Highlighting perspectives that promote understanding rather than conflict
  • Supporting political literacy and informed participation

Why This Matters

Healthy political dialogue is essential for building a stronger diaspora. When we listen to one another — even when we disagree — we create space for healing, growth, and collective progress.
